My name is Nyx, I enjoy being a jack of all trades, master of none. I like to do different projects, and I would like to share my experiences with the crowd for fun. Maybe this is just a happy middle between social media because I refuse to touch it. Perhaps this is just like a SomethingAwful.com thread whether it's LPs or own crafts. I'm not gonna make a groverhaus, but I will (try) and post pics if possible. If anything, this is just a long term dev log. Plus people say I'm funny so. Laugh away.
Current to do:
- Finishing custom painting a Kaito figure's hair, wondering how to do this without enshitifying it/cakey. I already redid the face for now. It's not gonna be pretty but I don't care. This is just so it looks like my OC.
-Practice with Clay sculping, starting by making some clay Chiikawa figures.
-Maybe draw more of my OC x Canon (Or Yumedanshi works)
-Make an actual forum signature like I used to do 10 years ago LOL.
Games to beat:
-Trauma Center New Blood (This game is insane with wii controls, I get it intends you have a co-op as part of the game. But I've heard people say even then it's hard. So I might have to finish the final chapter on Easy..Sucks but this is not a game I'm confident to all-normal on like with UTK2)

Thank you Photopea for being a decent pixlr replacement. I used to draw on pixlr when I was a tween back when other people used it.

Once I'm free from this fuckass meeting and then on the way home from work.. I can't tell if I want to do a Chiikawa figure or do the Kaito figure. I think Chiikawas are simple enough at least... Maybe both?

DEV LOG - KAITO FIGURE

So, something I learned was that the neck piece somehow came out, so I wondered.. could the front part of his hair come off considering it has parts that aren't seemingly attached to the head? So I learned that.. yes the bangs can come off. This is going to be infinitely easier I'd reckon.

I did Acetone his face to remove the paint last night, and gave him new eyes and wrinkles, considering this is supposed to be my oc. Seemingly the red paint from the eyes came off, but it's a watercolor marker so.. Faded it is for now. The face looks a bit dirty, but acetone can't REALLY fix Micron pen mistakes that much. Oh well. Also probably is smudged due to trying to protect the micron face with clear nail varnish. Bad idea. Anyhow, if I need to fix it and remove the smudgies, at least acetone can leave enough of a ghost of the micron pen to redo the face as much as I need to.

So, it was time to begin painting the hair. For 11.99$ USD at Michael's seems to get you 6 chalk pens in this set. Crazy, but considering Poscas are insane with prices, this will do.

This was a decent spotty base coat at least. I can always paint over it with actual acryllic paint to get in those tighter spots.. God willing at least. Anyhow, best to let it dry. I'm going to be eating this butternut squash soup my mom brought over in a mason jar.

OMFG YOUR SIGNATURE IS SO PERFECT IT'S BRINGING BACK MEMORIESSSSSSS
ive never seen people using paint markers to cover up figures before O: it looks like it has a lot smoother finish than a brush

Mhm! Sort of! I'd say its more chalky.. I think there's no perfect way unless you spray paint, which is unfortunately not feasable here, but oh well. I'm not aiming for perfection, I'm aiming for personal gratification but considering my personality I think I have to accept any sort of less than perfection haha.
Unfortunately, it can't really get into nooks and crannies since the tip is unfortunately too big, but in Michael's my options were kind of limited.. I know when the Joann's by my apartment closed, they had the closing sale (big joke considering that Joann's was always so.. pricey) and they had Poscas. Maybe I should've snagged some. Oh well..
I'm glad you like my signature, Mana-Sama is one of my fashion goals to live by.

For anyone curious, my photo quality is not the best. I take pics via my Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+, then transfer it to my PC to post.. So.. YMMV on image quality.

DEV LOG: Chiikawa Clay

Using Crayola Air Dry Clay, it's a bit annoying that water is the only way to quickly revive it just incase your small pieces start to crumble up, but such is life. 5lbs for under 10$? I'll take it.

Tools of the trade.

I kind of want to make Shiisa as my first figure, but she (they? Most people called Shiisa a she for a while before defaulting to neutral, but I call Shiisa a she only because she reminds me of my OC who is also an Okinawan woman) has a lot of little working parts such as her mane + ears + tail, but if I can power through making the body and arms.. Heaven only knows.
But I'll say this, suppose you have cracks in your figure? Water helps smooth it, but probably because it's melting the clay. After all, clay is just dirt.

DEV LOG: Chiikawa Figure

Shiisa is done, I think I've smoothed enough cracks, but if she falls apart, water can help re-attach. Excited to let her dry, so I can paint her. :)
